Sarathi (“we”, “the app”) is an application that offers reflective guidance grounded in the Bhagavad Gita, together with a 100-day reading journey. This policy explains what information the app handles and why.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth. We do not collect contacts, photos, or location, and we use no advertising or analytics trackers of any kind. The one identifier we do use is described under “Measuring whether people come back” below.
Most importantly: the dilemma you describe is not stored on our servers. It is transmitted so that guidance can be composed for you, and it is not retained by us afterwards.
We want to know whether Sarathi is useful enough that people return. To measure that, when you open the app we record two things: a random identifier stored on your device, and the date — not the time.
We want to be plain about what this is rather than dress it up. This is pseudonymous tracking: it lets us see that a device came back, over time. It does not tell us who you are, and it is never connected to anything you wrote — the dilemma you describe is still not stored at all. The identifier is a random value, not derived from your device, your account, or anything about you.
We record the date rather than the time deliberately. Knowing that someone opened the app on a given day is enough to answer our question; knowing the hour is not, and would be more revealing. If you clear your app data, the identifier is gone and you are a new device to us.
After a counsel you can tell us whether it helped, and optionally write a sentence about what worked or what didn’t. If you do, we store your verdict, that comment, which verse was cited, the general category, and the language — nothing else.
The comment is the only thing on Sarathi you type that we keep, and we keep it only because you chose to send it. The box says so, and asks you not to include personal details. Your dilemma itself is still never sent with it.
We record a small set of anonymous events — a page was opened, a counsel was requested, one was received and how long it took, a verse was shared. Each carries only the action, the language, and a short tag if you arrived through a link we shared.
We use no third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, no PostHog, no Mixpanel, no advertising pixel, and no session recording of any kind. These events go to our own database and nowhere else.
These events carry no identifier at all — not even the random device value described above. That is deliberate: it means the events cannot be connected to the return-visit records, so no one, including us, can reconstruct one person’s path through the app.
Some things are saved in your browser or app storage, on your device only. These never reach our servers and are removed if you clear your app data.
You can remove all of it at any time using the clear options in the app, or by clearing the app’s data in your device settings.
We use a small number of providers to operate the app: a hosting provider that serves the site and runs our server code, and an AI provider that composes the guidance from the text you submit. Text sent for this purpose is processed under that provider’s terms and is not used by us for any other purpose.
Sarathi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Younger users should use the app with a parent or guardian.
Because we do not hold an account or a profile for you, there is generally no personal data for us to retrieve or delete. You can clear everything the app has stored on your device at any time. If you have a question about your information, contact us at the address below.
Sarathi offers reflection, not treatment. It is not therapy, counselling in the clinical sense, or medical, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a crisis service. If you are in distress or danger, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
